Google is reportedly integrating its AI assistant Gemini into its Google Maps app.
An unreleased feature has been discovered in the Google app for Android, allowing users to ask Gemini questions about specific locations on Google Maps.
When activated, a new “Ask about place” button appears at the bottom of the screen, which puts the Google Maps link to the selected location into the search box.
This feature can be seen in action in a video shared online.
It appears that the feature only works with individual locations, such as mountains or businesses, and does not work with cities.
The feature has not been released yet and its availability is uncertain. However, given Google’s efforts to integrate Gemini into its other apps and services, it is likely that the feature will be included in Google Maps in the future.
