ZTE Unveils AI Innovations to Advance Malaysia’s Digital Future
ZTE Corporation, a leading global provider of integrated information and communication technology (ICT) solutions, showcased its latest AI-powered innovations in Kuala Lumpur at the “Catalyzing Intelligent Innovation” event. The event, which featured highlights from the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, highlighted ZTE’s commitment to advancing Malaysia’s digital infrastructure and supporting the nation’s intelligent transformation. With a focus on cutting-edge technologies, ZTE demonstrated how its innovations are contributing to a more efficient, sustainable, and digitally connected Malaysia.
One of the key attractions of the event was ZTE’s Ultra Band Radio (UBR) technology. This revolutionary mobile network solution is designed for simplified deployment and energy efficiency. UBR facilitates highly compact, power-efficient network sites, reducing environmental impact while enhancing network performance. This innovation is part of ZTE’s vision for building ultra-efficient mobile networks capable of supporting the growing demands of next-generation digital technologies. In line with this, ZTE also highlighted its 5G-A solutions, which included advanced applications like 4K augmented reality (AR) live broadcasting. With ultra-low latency and high reliability, these solutions promise to unlock new possibilities for industries relying on real-time, high-quality digital experiences. Additionally, the event showcased applications for drone logistics and smart waterways, illustrating the practical benefits of 5G-A technology for industries in Malaysia.
Recognizing the need to bridge the digital divide, ZTE introduced its solar-powered and modular rural connectivity solutions, which include the Eco Radio and Rural Pilot. These solutions are designed for deployment in remote areas, offering a sustainable and scalable approach to providing connectivity to underserved communities. ZTE’s innovations in rural connectivity align with its broader goal of ensuring that all Malaysians, regardless of location, have access to the benefits of digital transformation.
Another significant highlight of the event was ZTE’s work in advancing All-Optical Networks. These networks combine high-speed fiber connectivity with AI-driven intelligence to provide seamless and high-performance connectivity for homes and businesses. ZTE unveiled its next-generation smart home ecosystem, which includes an AI Home Media Center, 4K AI Soundbar, and the industry’s first AI-equipped Fiber-To-The-Room (FTTR) system. These products are designed to deliver intelligent connectivity solutions that meet the demands of modern households and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), supporting Malaysia’s broadband and digital lifestyle objectives.
Building on its commitment to AI integration, ZTE introduced the AIR DNA Future Network, an innovative solution that re-engineers the foundational “genetics” of mobile networks. This AI-native infrastructure enables mobile operators to automate network operations, improve efficiency, and create more dynamic service models. The introduction of AiCube, a full-stack intelligent computing solution, further reinforced ZTE’s dedication to advancing AI capabilities. AiCube is designed to support large data centers, edge computing facilities, and enterprise-grade systems, enabling high-performance AI processing in diverse scenarios such as smart cities and intelligent factories.
ZTE’s consumer brand, nubia, also made its mark at the event with the introduction of the nubia Neo 3 series. The series, which is designed with a strong focus on gaming, is positioned as the Official Co-Branded Gaming Smartphone for Free Fire, a popular mobile game. The nubia Neo 3 series features advanced gaming enhancements such as shoulder triggers and a liquid cooling system to provide an esports-grade experience. It also incorporates AI-powered features for gaming, photography, and voice interaction. This partnership between nubia and Free Fire is expected to resonate with Malaysia’s growing gaming community, offering accessible, high-performance gaming experiences to a wide range of consumers.
In addition to its technological innovations, ZTE has been an active participant in global policy leadership, particularly through its involvement in GSMA forums. The company has expressed its readiness to collaborate with local regulators to help shape Malaysia’s digital future. ZTE’s contributions to Malaysia’s digital agenda include its support for national initiatives like the JENDELA program, which aims to improve broadband connectivity across the country. ZTE has played a key role in the expansion of Malaysia’s 5G network, setting a record for the fastest 5G-Advanced speed in the country with a test speed of 30.8 Gbps. Furthermore, ZTE’s efforts to modernize over 10,000 sites and support more than half of the nationwide JENDELA rollout demonstrate its long-term commitment to Malaysia’s digital transformation.
The “Catalyzing Intelligent Innovation” event also served as a platform for collaboration with key stakeholders in Malaysia’s digital ecosystem. Leading industry players such as Axiata, CelcomDigi, Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB), EdotCo, Maxis, Telekom Malaysia, U Mobile, YTL Corporation, and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) were in attendance. ZTE used the event to call for deeper collaboration between ecosystem players to co-build a smarter, more inclusive digital future for Malaysia.
ZTE’s extensive intellectual property portfolio, with over 93,000 global patent applications and approximately 48,000 patents, underscores the company’s leadership in innovation. ZTE’s continued focus on R&D and its role in modernizing Malaysia’s digital infrastructure are critical to the country’s long-term digital agenda. By providing operators, developers, and policymakers with the tools to build intelligent infrastructure, ZTE is helping Malaysia solidify its position as a regional digital leader and accelerate its transition to a future-ready economy.
