AMD Launches Ryzen PRO 9000 Enterprise CPUs with Zen 5

AMD has launched a new line of enterprise-focused Ryzen PRO 9000 desktop processors, leveraging the latest Zen 5 architecture. This new series targets workstations, business PCs, and companies that require robust security and management features alongside high computing power. The PRO 9000 lineup consists of three SKUs: Ryzen 9 PRO 9945, Ryzen 7 PRO 9745, and Ryzen 5 PRO 9645, all built on the Granite Ridge Zen 5 platform. Each model delivers a consistent 65-watt thermal design power (TDP), reflecting a balance between performance and energy efficiency ideal for business environments.
The Ryzen 9 PRO 9945 features 12 cores and 24 threads with a base clock of 3.4 GHz and a boost frequency reaching 5.4 GHz. The Ryzen 7 PRO 9745 offers eight cores and 16 threads, running at a base clock of 3.8 GHz and sharing the same peak boost speed. The Ryzen 5 PRO 9645 provides six cores and 12 threads, clocked at 3.9 GHz with a maximum boost of 5.4 GHz. These models maintain the cache sizes of their standard Ryzen 9000 counterparts, with the Ryzen 9 PRO 9945 equipped with 76 MB of combined cache, the Ryzen 7 PRO 9745 with 40 MB, and the Ryzen 5 PRO 9645 with 38 MB.
Compared to their consumer-focused siblings, these PRO-branded CPUs emphasize enhanced security and manageability features, enabling easier deployment and maintenance in corporate IT environments. These features position the Ryzen PRO 9000 series as a competitor to Intel’s enterprise-focused vPro platform. Though AMD has yet to provide a formal pricing release or detailed availability, these processors are expected to appear first in OEM pre-built systems for commercial customers before entering the retail market.
Alongside the Ryzen PRO 9000 series, AMD simultaneously released several other Ryzen processors spanning Zen 3, Zen 4, and Zen 5 architectures. Notable releases include Zen 5 “F” series models intended for global markets without integrated graphics, such as the Ryzen 7 9700F and Ryzen 5 9500F. Additionally, a unique Ryzen 5 7400 model launched with a reduced L3 cache size, an uncommon design choice for a chip built on AMD’s chiplet architecture.
Performance highlights from AMD indicate that the Ryzen 9 PRO 9945 outperforms Intel’s Core i7-14700 in productivity benchmarks by significant margins, with up to 44% faster results in graphics rendering tasks like Blender. Despite its moderate 65W power envelope, the processor delivers strong multi-threaded performance suitable for demanding professional workloads. The PRO series also comes with a bundled Wraith Stealth cooler, ensuring OEM customers have adequate cooling solutions out of the box.
