MSI has introduced the Cubi 5 1M, a compact mini PC designed to meet the demands of modern office environments and professional workspaces. The device measures just 0.83 liters in volume, making it one of the smaller options available in the business computing market while maintaining robust connectivity and performance capabilities.

The Cubi 5 1M series features Intel Core 100U series processors from the Raptor Lake-U generation. Three processor options will be available: the Intel Core 3 100U with 6 cores and 8 threads, the Core 5 120U with 10 cores and 12 threads, and the top-tier Core 7 150U also featuring 10 cores and 12 threads. Performance benchmarks suggest the Core 7 150U delivers computing power comparable to AMD’s Ryzen 5 7530U, while the entry-level Core 3 100U performs similarly to the Ryzen 5 5560U. The performance gap between the lowest and highest configurations stands at approximately 30 percent.

Memory and storage configurations allow for significant flexibility. The system supports up to 64 GB of DDR5-5200 RAM, providing adequate capacity for multitasking and demanding business applications. Storage needs are addressed through an M.2 2280 slot for NVMe drives and an additional 2.5-inch drive bay for secondary storage or backup purposes.

Connectivity represents a strong point for the Cubi 5 1M. The mini PC includes four USB Type-A ports capable of 10 Gbps transfer speeds, along with a Thunderbolt 4 Type-C port for high-speed data transfer and device charging. Display output options include HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4, enabling users to connect up to three monitors simultaneously through the combination of Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, and DisplayPort connections. This multi-display capability enhances productivity for users requiring extended screen real estate.

Network connectivity features dual Ethernet ports offering both 2.5 Gigabit and 1 Gigabit speeds, ensuring stable and fast wired connections suitable for enterprise environments. Wireless options include either WiFi 6E with Bluetooth 5.3 or WiFi 5 with Bluetooth 5.0, depending on the configuration selected.

The physical design incorporates VESA mounting compatibility, allowing the device to be mounted behind monitors or on walls to maximize desk space and maintain clean workstation setups. MSI has also included an optional external power switch for installations where the unit may be positioned in hard-to-reach locations.

Additional features include MSI Power Link technology, which enables the mini PC to be powered on directly from compatible MSI monitors when mounted behind displays. The MSI Power Meter tool assists with energy management by allowing users to monitor power consumption, calculate carbon emissions, and estimate electricity costs, supporting more sustainable computing practices.

The Cubi 5 1M targets multiple market segments including traditional office environments, digital signage installations, retail point-of-sale systems, educational institutions, and home office setups. Pricing information has not been disclosed at the time of announcement, with additional details expected to become available as the product reaches market availability.
