REDMAGIC Astra Gaming Tablet Launches Globally With Top Specs
REDMAGIC, a company recognized globally for its advancements in gaming technology, has announced the international release of its latest device, the REDMAGIC Astra Gaming Tablet. This launch marks the company’s entry into the high-performance gaming tablet segment, targeting serious gamers and content creators who demand both power and portability.
The REDMAGIC Astra Gaming Tablet is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a processor widely acknowledged as the most powerful in Android tablets to date. This hardware is supported by options of up to 24GB of LPDDR5T RAM and as much as 1TB of UFS 4.1 Pro storage. Such specifications place the Astra among the most powerful mobile devices available, and even surpass many laptops in terms of multitasking capability and storage capacity.
The tablet features a 9.06-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2.4K (2400 x 1504), a refresh rate of 165Hz, and peak brightness up to 1,600 nits. The OLED technology allows for vivid color reproduction, deep blacks, and fast response times. The display is also equipped with a 2,000Hz touch sampling rate and a custom touch chip, aimed at delivering instantaneous and precise inputs even under rapid, high-pressure gaming scenarios.
In terms of design, the Astra distinguishes itself with a transparent metal body, flat profile, and rounded corners. Dynamic RGB lighting is integrated into the chassis, providing a futuristic appearance. The device maintains a lightweight and compact form, positioned between typical 7–8-inch and 10–13-inch tablets, making it suitable for users who need power on the go. The flat back, free from any camera bump, also contributes to comfortable handling during extended use.
To ensure consistent performance during intensive gaming or creative work, REDMAGIC has included a sophisticated 13-layer ICE-X cooling system. This incorporates Liquid Metal 2.0 and dual-layer vapor chambers, which work together to keep internal temperatures stable and prevent thermal throttling. The cooling system is enhanced by a 20,000 RPM turbofan, using graphene and copper insulation for effective heat dissipation.
The REDMAGIC Astra is powered by an 8,200mAh battery, providing significant endurance for demanding activities. The company claims that the device can deliver up to 6.67 hours of Call of Duty Mobile, 5.56 hours of Genshin Impact, and 33 hours of continuous video playback. Fast charging support allows the battery to be fully replenished in about 64 minutes. The device also features charge separation technology, which reduces heat during charging and is intended to help extend battery lifespan.
For connectivity, the Astra uses a USB-C port compliant with USB 3.2 Gen 2 standards, supporting ultra-fast data transfer, external storage, OTG, and video output to 4K monitors. This makes the tablet suitable not only for gaming but also for professional work such as 4K video editing and large file transfers. It can also connect to a variety of peripherals, including controllers, keyboards, docking stations, and more.
Audio and haptic feedback are other areas where the Astra aims to set a benchmark. The tablet uses stereo dual 1620 speakers, certified with DTS:X Ultra for three-dimensional sound, and dual x-axis linear motors for strong vibration feedback during gaming. Security is addressed with fingerprint and face unlock options.
The tablet runs on REDMAGIC OS 10.5, based on Android 15, and includes integration with Google’s Gemini AI for productivity and creative assistance, such as real-time translation and photo search. The software includes an X-Gravity Gaming Center, supporting ultra-low latency casting, output to displays at resolutions up to 8K at 60Hz, and multiple gaming plugins for customized performance.
REDMAGIC is also launching a suite of accessories for the Astra, including the REDMAGIC Astra Stylus, a dedicated screen protector, a magnetic folio case, and an upcoming REDMAGIC Gamepad with detachable Hall effect joysticks, linear motor vibration, and programmable keys. These accessories are designed to enhance both gaming and productivity use cases.
The REDMAGIC Astra Gaming Tablet will be available in several variants: 12GB RAM with 256GB storage, 16GB RAM with 512GB storage, and 24GB RAM with 1TB storage. In Malaysia, the recommended retail prices (RRP) are RM3,399, RM4,199, and RM5,199 respectively. Promotional prices will be available during the first sales period, with discounts of up to RM400 depending on the variant. Early purchasers will also receive free accessories such as an 80W charger, a screen protector, and the REDMAGIC Cyber Gamepad, with total gift values up to RM897.
The device will be sold through official REDMAGIC channels, including Shopee, Lazada, TikTok, and the REDMAGIC website, with the first sales promotion running from July 14 to July 31.
