HMD Secure has officially announced the upcoming launch of the HMD Terra M, a compact and ultra-rugged smart feature phone developed for industrial and government sectors. Scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2026, the device targets organizations requiring resilient communication tools, including defense forces, public safety agencies, and critical infrastructure operators. This release follows the earlier introduction of the HMD Ivalo XE and represents a continued expansion of the company’s portfolio focused on sovereign and secure mobility solutions.

The handset is engineered to withstand extreme environments and meets MIL-STD-810H standards for durability. It features a reinforced chassis with IP68 and IP69K ratings, ensuring resistance against dust ingress, high-temperature water jets, and immersion. Internal testing indicates the phone can survive drops from heights of up to 1.8 meters. Frontline workers can operate the device using a 2.8-inch touchscreen designed for accuracy even when the user is wearing gloves. To facilitate instant communication in noisy field conditions, the phone includes a high-output loudspeaker and specific programmable keys for Push-to-Talk functionality and emergency alerts.

Technical specifications for the HMD Terra M prioritize long-term reliability and fleet management. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Dragonwing QCM2290 chipset and includes a 2,510 mAh battery that offers up to ten days of standby time through optimized power management. Connectivity options cover 4G, VoLTE, VoWi-Fi, NFC, and hotspot capabilities, along with dual SIM and eSIM support to allow rapid carrier switching. HMD Secure has committed to providing five years of quarterly security updates from the global launch date to ensure data protection.

Business customers can deploy the device using Mobile Device Management systems for secure administration across large fleets. To support shift-based operations, the phone is compatible with a specialized ecosystem of accessories. This includes a stackable charging cradle capable of linking up to ten units for simultaneous charging via a single power cable, utilizing metal contacts on the rear of the device. While specific pricing has not yet been confirmed, the HMD Terra M will be available through selected partners early in 2026 as part of HMD Secure’s strategy to deliver European-designed mission-critical technology.
