DJI Osmo Action 6 Set for October 24 Launch With 1-Inch Sensor

DJI is preparing to release its latest action camera, the Osmo Action 6, with multiple sources confirming an October 24, 2025 announcement date. The launch represents a significant upgrade to the company’s action camera lineup and follows recent releases including the DJI Mini 5 Pro and the Osmo Nano that arrived in September.
According to information from industry sources and regulatory filings, the Osmo Action 6 will feature a 1-inch sensor, marking a substantial improvement over previous models. This larger sensor size is expected to deliver enhanced dynamic range and improved low-light performance, addressing two critical areas for action camera users who often shoot in challenging conditions. The camera will support 8K video recording at 30 frames per second, along with 4K capture at higher frame rates for smooth slow-motion footage.
The device incorporates a 1,950 mAh battery, which is reported to provide up to four hours of continuous 4K recording. This extended battery life addresses a common concern among action camera users who need reliable power during lengthy outdoor activities and adventures. The camera will maintain the dual-screen design that has become standard in modern action cameras, with touchscreens on both the front and rear of the device.
Enhanced stabilization technology called RockSteady+ will include AI-assisted horizon leveling, helping users maintain stable footage even during intense activities. The camera will be waterproof to 20 meters without requiring an additional case, and the controls have been redesigned for easier operation while wearing gloves.
A notable addition to the Osmo Action 6 is its integration with smartwatch platforms including Garmin and Apple Watch. This connectivity feature will allow users to control the camera and monitor recording data directly from their wrist, providing real-time fitness tracking information and data overlays. Leaked images from regulatory filings have confirmed the smartwatch pairing functionality, showing the device name displayed on connected watches.
DJI plans to offer two package options at launch. The Standard Combo is expected to retail between $329 and $429, including the camera, basic mounting accessories, and one battery. An Adventure Combo priced between $479 and $579 will add extra batteries, a protective case, and additional rugged mounting options for more demanding use cases.
The Federal Communications Commission published images of the Osmo Action 6 several months ago, revealing the traditional rectangular action camera form factor with a single dominant camera lens. The design maintains the compact footprint expected from action cameras while incorporating the larger sensor technology.
Availability is anticipated to begin in late October or early November 2025, with pre-orders potentially opening immediately following the October 24 announcement. Major retailers including Amazon are expected to stock the camera shortly after the official launch.
