Samsung Releases 8TB 9100 PRO PCIe 5 SSD for AI and Gaming

Samsung Electronics has launched its largest consumer SSD to date, the 9100 PRO 8TB PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD. This new 8TB model joins Samsung’s existing lineup of 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB versions, offering sequential read speeds up to 14,800 MB/s and write speeds up to 13,400 MB/s. The drive is designed to meet the increasing demands of next-generation applications such as AI model loading, high-resolution video rendering, and large-scale AAA gaming.
Powered by Samsung’s 8th-generation V-NAND and the advanced Presto controller, the 9100 PRO 8TB delivers up to 2.2 million IOPS random read and 2.6 million IOPS random write speeds. This performance doubles that of the previous generation 990 PRO, making it suitable for AI PCs, professional content creation workflows, and high-performance gaming.
The SSD is also up to 49% more power-efficient compared to its predecessor, thanks to Samsung’s 5nm controller and firmware improvements. It comes in a heatsink version with a slim profile of 11.25mm for effective heat management and compatibility with PlayStation 5 consoles.
Samsung continues to support this model with its Magician software, which facilitates data migration, drive health monitoring, data protection, and firmware updates to maintain optimal operation.
In Malaysia, the Samsung 9100 PRO 8TB SSD is available with prices set at RM4,229 without a heatsink and RM4,269 with a heatsink. It can be purchased through Samsung’s online store, official stores on Lazada and Shopee, as well as authorized retailers. More information and warranty details are available on Samsung’s official websites.
